Between 2006 and 2010, Thomson Reuters indexed 93,236 papers that listed at least one author address in Sweden. Of those papers, the highest percent appeared in journals indexed under the main heading of immunology. As the right-hand column shows, the citations-per-paper (or impact) mark for immunology papers featuring Sweden-based authors during the five-year period was 13% below the world average (8.94 citations per paper for Sweden versus the world mark of 10.24). On the other hand, Sweden surpassed the world average in all the other fields shown here, with notable strength in agricultural sciences (58% above the world average), plant & animal science (also 58% above), and environment/ecology (+50%). In economics & business, Sweden’s impact mark happened to match the world figure precisely: 2.40 cites per paper.
